I've been dismissing rumors of a smaller iPad for the past couple of years as well. It seems so un-Apple to me. I think that is largely in part because Steve Jobs probably did not one in order to simplify the product line. All the analysts said creating a smaller, cheaper model would benefit Apple but I always sided with the Jobsian point of view that creating smaller, cheaper devices was "shit" and wouldn't benefit the company. I think Apple will be able to create a great, smaller, and cheaper iPad. Apple always does things their way and most of the time they do it right. I'll gladly buy a smaller iPad if it's the same experience, only smaller and cheaper. The bad thing is that Google beat them to it and the Nexus 7 is selling like hotcakes. I think that Apple will be able to make a larger dent if they release a smaller iPad though at their own event. As we all know, their events are the king of the tech industry and are covered much more thoroughly in the mainstream media, technology blogs, and financial institutions.

Thank you for this great article!
I've got some problems with the codesign and the entitlements for the Helper App. When I try to validate the Main app which include the Helper, I get errors related to entitlements and provisioning profile. If I remove the Helper from the Bundle it works like a charm!
Do you have some suggestions?

Are you using the right path for the database? The most common cause I've found for things to work in the simulator but fail on the device is due to case sensitive file systems. On the simulator, the file system is case insensitive, but on the device it's case sensitive. Therefore, if you open the file using a path name like "MyDatabase.sql" but the actual fie name is "MyDatabase.SQL", it will work on the simulator but not on the device.

Hi,
I changed to use the function sqlite3_open_v2() with SQLITE_OPEN_READONLY flag as you post and my app worked fine on simulator of Xcode 4.2 GM seed.
But after uploading it to iTunes Connect, Apple rejected it because they get 0 results when try to read data from DB. It's strange. Plese helpe me.

PS: All worked fine with iOS4.x or lower

You should try adding a notification on pirated copies that guilts the user into buying the real version - I think many normal people don't understand that a lot of software is develeped by small companies or individuals who don't have big pockets and need every $.99 sale to make a living.

Thankfully our latest Mac app hasnt been pirated yet, but all our others have and we expect that sooner of later ImageXY will be too.
